Description | Photo taken from the roof of one of the Battersea Court residential buildings, looking out over a scaffolding rail, towards various university buildings under construction. On the left of the foreground is another Battersea Court building which has scaffolding around it, boards down on the roof area and stacks of boards and some window frames on top too. On the right in the foreground is a Surrey Court residential building which has at least three levels built up, scaffolding around it and stacks of bricks on the roof. On the ground below the photographer's viewpoint, is an open muddy space with a road running through it and a car parked on; a man's head is just visible near the front end of the car. After this space is another triangular shaped space which has three rows of white wooden temporary huts across it, diagonal to the building on the left (lecture theatre block?). On the other side of this space is the Philip Marchant building which has much of its outer structure complete, and a roof but not windows. Just right of this is Senate House and on the other side of Senate House, the construction of the Robert Boyle building is going on. A tall tower crane stands in the area near this building, which is not as far on in its development as the other ones pictured. There is another academic building on the left of the Philip Marchant building. In the background behind the crane, the lake can be seen and some of the grassy land around it stretched round to the left behind the buildings there. At the edge of this grassy land there are some white buildings, one of which is quite large and has a domed roof. In the background, trees, houses and office blocks in Guildford town are visible. |
