Description | Photograph taken outside from the middle of an open muddy space, looking towards some of the university buildings which are being constructed further in the distance. In the foreground, nearest the photographer is a smallish ditch which has been filled with concrete blocks and around/ over these are piles of scaffolding and planks of wood and metal bars. There are two more similar piles, spaced a short distance away from this, to both the left and right. On the more immediate right of the central pile, is a plank of wood which is sticking out of the ground into the air. Behind the central pile is a low brick wall and behind this a man (wearing a hard hat) is looking through a piece of equipment like a transit, on a tripod, towards another worker who is standing a short distance away holding a tall rod about 4 metres high (looks like a stadia rod). Behind them are two white wooden, temporary huts/ cabins with a cement mixer and ladder in front of them. Behind the man in a hard hat is a large mound of construction material, on the left of this are two skips and just behind, a muddy road/ track. Further up this track to the left is a cement mixer, a small minibus/ van and a small crane with its arm extended diagonally up and to the left. It has 'RICHARDS WALLINGTON' in print across it. Further behind all of this are university buildings under construction. Many have much of the outer structure complete and some have windows installed also. Some buildings have scaffolding around them. In front of the buildings on the left of the photo, is a row of white wooden, temporary huts/ cabins, one of which has a small cross on.
