Description | View of two university buildings under construction, near the site of Guildford Cathedral. The photographer's viewpoint is from another building under construction, nearby. The corner of an outer wall is visible just below the photographer's viewpoint, with three bricks resting on a wall top and gaps where some bricks have not been filled in yet. Down on the ground, in the photo foreground, and before the buildings which the photo looks out onto, is a road with piles of bricks and other construction materials stacked up. On the right, behind one of these piles, is a ditch with a semi-circular arc to it. On the right of this, a path (one paving slab wide), curves to behind the buildings under construction. In the centre, the first building in view, has the first level of bricks underway, with gaps for windows emerging. There is some internal division within the building and a level of flooring covers some of this, where two men are standing, working. A ladder is propped up against the scaffolding of the nearside wall. Left of this building, is an open space with more brick stacks and a crane which reaches to the top of the photo and has its arm pointing away from the photographer. Behind the first building in the centre is another which has three levels so far. There is much of the outer brick work done up to this point though bricklayers are working on the front right hand side of the top level. To the left, behind this building, is an open space with construction materials dotted around it, then a hedgerow with two bare branched trees and further behind, a field. On the right hand side in the background, is Guildford Cathedral, side on. A tall cross is visible, above the second building in the centre of the photo. |
