Description | Information package on Yellow, 'a choreography of the text, and a vocalising of the body' by Artemis. It is an adaption of Charlotte Perkin Gilman's short story written at the turn of the century, The Yellow Wallpaper, telling a story of a woman's struggle through 'mental breakdown' to consciousness, power and assertion of herself as woman and writer. The choreography by Alys Daines took place in a bare room, with no props, no music and very few effects, apart from 8 dancers wearing flowing patterned yellow dresses. |
