TitleClassical Greek Dance
DescriptionMaterials relating to Classical Greek Dance (known previously as Revived Greek Dance) and donated by pupils of Ruby Ginner - founder of the dance method. Books, posters, film, properties (a sword and shield), lecture notes, costume and committee meeting minutes exist in the collection. The collection is a sister of the Bice Bellairs Collection (Bellairs also a former pupil of Ginner's).
Admin_HistoryClassical Greek Dance, once known as Revived Greek Dance, was devised by Ruby Ginner. It drew on athletics, drama and dance. From 1916-1954 in London Ruby Ginner ran the Ginner-Mawer School of Dance and Drama and toured with companies with her own choreography. Classical Greek Dance flourished in the inter-war period. From 1939-1947 the School was held in Boscastle, Cornwall.
Custodial_HistoryMaterial has been donated by students of Ruby Ginner.
