| Description | Classical Greek Dance, previously Revived Greek Dance, was devised by Ruby Ginner. It drew on athletics, drama and dance. From 1916-1954 in London Ruby Ginner ran the Ginner-Mawer School of Dance and Drama and toured with companies with her own choreography. Classical Greek Dance flourished in the inter-war period. From 1939-1947 the School was held in Boscastle, Cornwall.
The collection was created in 2008 by the National Resource Centre for Dance to house material relating to Classical Greek Dance (known previously as Revived Greek Dance) which has been donated by pupils of Ruby Ginner, the founder of the dance method.
Collection includes books; photographs; programmes and posters; film, audio and music scores; properties (a sword and shield); lecture notes; costumes; records relating to the Greek Dance Association Branch and committee meeting minutes; records relating to teaching; and records relating to the Ruby ginner Awards programme and the Greek Dance Festivals. |
