History	F C Lawwrence started his own consultancy firm in 1923 and he was a founder member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants, later the Institute of Management Accountancy, where he pioneered a new concept of costing. He published his book 'Marginal Costing' in the 1930s. In 1948 Lawrence opened a Management Training Centre. F C Lawrence met Rudolf Laban at Dartington Hall in 1942 Lawrence's office was based in Manchester, and Laban moved to live in Manchester with Lisa Ullmann. She subsequently founded her Art of Movement Studio there in 1946. Lawrence acted as a mentor and counsellor to the teachers and dancers of the Studio. In 1947, Laban and Lawrence published their book 'Effort', which was subsequently revised and updated by Lawrence. Lawrence was instrumental to the formation of the Laban Art of Movement Guild; he set up the trustees when the Art of Movement Studio moved to Addlestone in Surrey, and was later involved in the transfer of the Studio to Goldsmiths, University of London.
